If you’re planning a real people casting project, our best advice is to get your casting director involved as early as possible.
At Vitamin Enriched, we’ve been specializing in real people casting since 2004, and if there’s one thing we’ve learned, it’s that no two projects are alike.
Sometimes we’re looking for real families, small business owners, or people with a particular skill. Other times, we’re searching for someone with an incredibly specific life experience. And sometimes we’re looking for a needle in a haystack.
Whatever the project, we can help you figure out the best approach, where to look, and how much time you’ll realistically need.
Real people casting is different from traditional casting. We’re often looking for people who have never auditioned for anything in their lives, and finding them takes research, outreach, and a little patience.

Of course, these stages often overlap. We’ve done projects in much less time, and some searches need longer. It really depends on what you’re looking for.
Not every real people casting project is as simple as putting out a casting call.
Some involve sensitive topics, medical conditions, personal experiences, or communities that aren’t necessarily comfortable participating in advertising. Others have incredibly specific requirements or timelines that make finding the right people more challenging.
This is where experience matters.
Our background in documentary filmmaking has taught us how to approach people, build trust, and have conversations that make them feel comfortable sharing their experiences.
We also know when a casting brief might be too restrictive, when a timeline isn’t realistic, or when a different approach could produce better results.
Sometimes a quick conversation before the project even gets started can save everyone a lot of time and frustration.
We’ve spent more than 20 years building relationships, personal networks, and connections with communities across the country. We know how to research, where to look, and how to reach people who aren’t necessarily looking to be cast in a commercial.
